Budapest

The home of the famous baths, amazing architecture and Fisherman’s Bastion

06.06.18 – 09.06.18

Budapest has been on our ‘must visit’ list for a while now as we’ve heard it’s such a beautiful city and so affordable. We arrived to blue skies and sunshine, and our Airbnb host kindly picked us up from the airport. This was our first time using Airbnb, we found a great apartment in District VI which was close to all the restaurants and bars. Of course it wouldn’t be a typical city break if we didn’t jump on a sightseeing bus (Big Bus of course)! We used the bus as our main transport for the three days as you could hop on and off, and this was also a chance to see and learn about all the main sights in Budapest.
One of the most beautiful areas of Budapest is the Castle District. If you didn’t know, Budapest is split into ‘Buda’ and ‘Pest’ by Chain Bridge and Castle District is located on the ‘Buda’ side. My favourite Castle we visited was the Fisherman’s Bastion/Matthias Church as the building was so beautiful. You could see the brightly coloured roof tiles from miles away and it’s definitely a must-see for Budapest! Another incredible sight to visit is the Hungarian Parliament building, this is one of the largest Parliament buildings in the world and is a very popular tourist attraction in the city. I guess you can’t really visit Budapest without attending the famous baths; there are so many dotted around the city but we walked to Széchenyi Spa for an evening session. No lie, the temperature in the pool was also the temperature outside (around 28 degrees!) I would definitely recommend Budapest as a little break away, there’s so much to see and do, and it’s so cheap!!
